Just a quick peek at today's photos. Can't wait to share them with you as soon as we're done editing. This was the most fun I've had shooting in a long while! Claudy was amazing behind the camera, we laughed so
much while we were taking these in the middle of a winding uphill road. I can only say, praise the Lord no speeding cars came along, we would have been goners!

I'm off to take a shower, my skin is beginning to itch from laying down on that dirty road.
What are your weekend plans? I have a critical thinking seminar at 9 am tomorrow, do you want to go in my place? Yea, you go, I'll sleep in. Deal? Deal.

Happy Weekend

Happy Republic Day Trinidad and Tobago! It's a good thing today is a holiday, this chick really needed the chance to wake up without an alarm blaring. My flag and I walked around campus yesterday excitedly ushering in the holiday. My outfits for classes are probably the most uncreative ever, a t-shirt, a pair of slacks and a cardigan. I try to always carry a cardigan or a jacket because my body's temperature gauge goes whack at times and I prefer to be warmer than chilly.

Since waking up I've had Auld Lang Syne, the Lea Michele version and Differentology by Bunji Garlin on repeat. That is such a strange combination.I know that I'm almost a year late in hopping unto this train. I usually dont like socca but, man this song! It's given me a change of mind, it's amazing. I find the lyrics of any song to be of utmost important and these lyrics, one word, wow. The tittle which I'm assuming means the study of being different absolutely peeks my interest.

Metro magazine says it better that I ever could: "Differentology is a carnival, a street party, a beach rave: it's every one of your perfect summers distilled into four minutes and 20 seconds."

Happy Republic Day everyone, listen to Bunji Garlin's Differentology and tell me what you think!
When I first cut off my permed ends it was during the  summer, so I had countless hours to fiddle around in my rediscovered and very awesome natural hair with all it's coils and kinks.  Now, I don't even have time to sit down to a leisurely meal, so I only go near my hair on weekends! I've received lots of comments and questions on my funky tapered  fro, today I'll answer the most frequently asked one.
"How do you care for it?"

My routine is pretty easy at the moment. I have a tapered twa and it's easy to care for. I don't use a lot of products, so I avoid heavy build up. Every two weeks I pre-poo with coconut oil and co-wash with Tresemme: Smooth and Silky Conditioner. Each Sunday the scalp is lightly oiled with a mixture of mostly castor oil, small splashes of coconut oil and tiny drops of almond and peppermint oil, then a generous amount of Elasta QP: Olive-oil and Mango Butter Leave-in Conditioner with a small bit of raw Shea butter mixed in is applied to the hair. Tiny two strand twists, like these follow. The twists I keep for a week and each day the hair is sprayed with a mixture of distilled water, leave-in conditioner and coconut oil. The shaved sides are combed with a fine tooth comb and then brushed.
And of-course, twist-outs are rocked on the weekends!!! I'd like your suggestions for shampoos, I'm out and looking for a really good one.

What's your hair care routine? Are you a product junkie or do you keep it simple? Any go to products?

It's Sunday, so I'm off to do some multitasking, my hair, some assignments (I have to plan, prepare and execute a business luncheon), a few meetings and maybe I'll even deal with the washing.

Every thing's all mad and hectic with me right now, It's hard to believe that I'm in my 3rd year of University already! I've been back in Trinidad for about a week now and classes are beginning properly today. I'm so excited but still a little worried about the courses that I've chosen for this semester, I'm doing the class Meal Management and Catering so expect a good amount of recipes! Last week was a bit stressful, with registration and all, hopefully I'll complete it today. Since my week was so crazy I took some time on Sabbath afternoon to just be, kick off my shoes, run around, pick flowers and lounge in the sunshine. Sometimes I swear I'm solar powered! It was really nice de-stressing time!

I promised to do a post on how I handle my newly natural hair and I'll deliver, I promise, I just want to make sure that my regimen  really works for me before I let you in on it! I'm off to finish registration and some assignments that I fell asleep on last night. What can I say? One minute I was staring at the laptop screen then in the next a beam of sunlight was hitting me in the face!

HAPPY MONDAY
