New Beginings

Happy 2015

I hope your year has been fantastic so far! First off, thank you. Thank you for being here now and for reading these words. Last year I decided to take a step back from blogging. To re-evaluate the direction in which Deep Fried Stilettos was heading, I was doing things and going places, yet the drive to write, to post and to share was no longer there. Friends would comment about a lack of posts, so I'd throw one up, literally just dash one together and hit publish. It became a task rather than hobby, so I stopped, stepped away. It's important to know when you need to take a break and take a breath.

Right now my fingers are itching to write, to create, to share. To fall in love with blogging all over again. I'm so excited about what this year has to offer. It's been almost four years since DFS was birthed and I feel like it's apart of who I am. Is that strange? I've changed  a bit, I hope. So it's only fair that Deep Fried Stilettos also changes and grows and matures. Right?

What's a DFS post without photographs? Since I hardly posted last year I'd like to share my 40 favorite photographs of 2014. If you follow on Instagram you've probably seen these before! I cherish the moments when these where snapped. So many memories! So many stories!

2014 was an amazing year; the birth of three new additions to our family, continuing my natural hair journey, growing closer to my love, saying goodbye to old friends and hello to new ones, seeing and doing so many things for the first time (three hour hike to a waterfall, changing a dirty diaper! hellur!), going full force into the professional phase of my degree, it was an unbelievably lovely year! This new year, as cheesy as it sounds, do what you love and love what you do.

What were the highlights of your 2014? Come on, spill!

  5. I started experiencing the same vibe- not wanting to do any of the things I loved anymore.
One highlight 2014 has taught me that nothing is forever. I lost two friends and it was a shock wave that I needed to do better, make more and be more.

  6. Happy new year to you too, Charity. I hardly ever use instagram but yours is definitely one of my favourite feeds.

I'm so glad you've organically returned to your blog, I miss everyone when they pack up and the dust collects. Those were lovely highlights of the year -- interesting that you've only now changed your first nappy.

I look forward to seeing 2k15 on Deep Fried Stilettos. xx
