Guess what time it is. It's Divali! Or at least it was last week! I've been ranting about my love of Divali every year, for the last two years, so obviously I couldn't let this one pass without sharing a few photos with you.

Just like last year,we arrived in Felicity along with thousands of others ready to stroll along the streets and look at the lights. It's honestly a clash of the senses! I just know you'd love it! Thousands of tiny diyas twinkling on every horizontal surface, fairy lights wrapped around poles, bumber to bumber traffic, fire works lighting up the night,  people dressed to impress in their traditional outfits, everyone laughing and talking, fire crackers exploding loudly,  food galore waiting to be stuffed into your mouth, Hindi music blasting from homes and vehicles and you just walking along trying your very hardest to soak it all up and store it away. Everyone was so happy and festive, I loved every moment of it.

See ya next year Divali!!

Wow. It's been a minute. Many apologies! Since I last popped by so many wonderful and not so wonderful things have happened. I've been meaning to post but get distracted so easily, these photos  have been sitting in my drafts for almost a month!

Mastering: The art of detangling my 4c hair. Ok, not really. Someone. Anyone. HELP. Detangling sessions end with me absolutely frustrated and bits of hair everywhere.

Eating: My weekly serving of M&M's. H.e.a.v.e.n
Drinking: Water. Lots and lots of the stuff!
Listening: to Catch the Throne: The Mixtape. If you enjoy Game of Thrones and simply can not wait until the season 4 premiere to get your GoT fix get your hands on this, it will help you along.

Needing: to get some laundry done. *sigh*

Traveling: to the hospital every Wednesday to continue the dietetics
Enjoying: The rainy weather. Yes to Sundays spent curls up in bed with the company of a mediocre book.  Let's forget that growing pile of assignments and research papers for the moment.

Loving: My new pair of leather Converses. ;)

Accepting:That Backne and the scars it leaves will always be an issue.

Watching: Cowboy Bebop. -.- It's a cult classic, you'll never convince me other wise!

Reading: Tom Cain's Samuel Carver series. The Accident Man was freaking genius but five books later Revenger is a huge disappointment.

Craving: Crackers and Jam for Supper.

Cooking: Eh Em. ^ please refer to above point!:P

Hoping: I'll be able to travel home for my cousin's wedding next month! Fingers crossed guys! x

Knowing: That the cricket outside my window isnt trying to drive me crazy on purpose. ARGH!

So come on! Spill it! How's your life been lately?

The count down begins. I'm heading back to Trinidad in a few days but it seems like hardly anytime has passed since I came home! As usual these last days of summer are super busy; running errands and getting everything in order.  Aren't you  absolutely in love with  loose play-suits that are nipped at the waist? I'd live in them if it weren't for the fact that you've got to strip every time you need to pee! They need to start putting strategically placed slits in these things.

I should probably buy some more shoes, these poor leather sandals have been on my feet all summer. A converse and black ballerina slippers are the only other pairs of flats that I own. Every time I wear these sandals I pray that they don't die in the middle of St Johns City. Its happened before. I had to walk barefoot to a store then waddle around town in some squeaky children flip flops  that  I bought for ten bucks. Not a fond memory.

Oh! I almost forgot, I did "something" with my hair. Absolutely loved this failed fro hawk looking thing, got tons of compliments and questions, which I found just a little strange because all I did was take a minute to stick a few bobby pins in!

Happy Monday Xx

Paradise isn't all sunshine! We've been having heavy showers for the past week, even now rain is beating down, the house is all dark and the air chilled. Perfect weather for staying in bed and reading all day. Last week was Carnival in Antigua and Barbuda so this Monday and Tuesday were public holidays, while most people headed into town for Jouvert, we packed up the cars and made a mad dash for the sea. Luckily the sun came out for a few hours on Monday so that we could enjoy Darkwood Beach.

We lazied about, stuffed our bellies then strolled along the shore before soaking up as much salt water and sand humanly possible. I spent an abnormal amount of time admiring these beach houses, Guys can you imagine watching the sunset from one of those decks? Heaven.

This post has got me daydreaming of scorching sunshine and salty air.  Take a peak at the last few pictures, I've already gone on about them on Instagram but aren't Jody's blue twists gorgeous? As usual a ridiculous amount of photos were snapped, these are a few favorites!

Have a safe weekend. Whatever your plans, enjoy yourselves! x

For a while now,  I've been trying to figure out whether or not this post should be published. You see, my make-up routine is ridiculously simple and there are so many great articles already on the web that me throwing another into the mix seemed kind of silly. After reading countless posts and watching even more videos about contouring, winged eyeliner and smoky eye shadows, my pitiful routine didn't seem very blog worthy but over the last couple of weeks both in person and on the web quite a bit comments and questions have been aimed at my skin and makeup routine. So I'll tackle my make-up routine below and skin care in the next post.

1. Face
The only thing that I put on my face is this Simple moisturizer. I haven't worn fountain in almost a year. Can't stand the stuff. Have you ever experienced how awkward it is to hug someone wearing white when you've got a face full of foundation? You tilt you're head at a weird angle to avoid messing them up, then have to clarify,  "Sorry, it's not that you've got  overwhelming body odor, I just dont want to dirty your shirt." When I'm feeling fancy I'll wear this Revlon Primer and a dusting of finishing powder by Black Opal.

2. Eyebrows
Every two or three weeks I'll use a razor blade to shape my eyebrows by defining the arch. An angled brush, eyebrow wax and powder and a clean mascara wand are my tools of choice when it comes to darkening and filling in the brow. I'll also blend a bit of concealer under the brow.

3. Eyes
Two or three times last year I got huge eyeshadow plates as gifts. Unfortunately I only wear the stuff when I want to look extra snazzy.  Most days it's just some smudged eyeliner and a swipe of mascara.

4. Lips
Lip-balm. lip-liner. lipstick. lip-gloss. Some days it's just one and on others it's all four. I've got really dark lips so I stick to reds and purples. Nudes and Pinks? No way. I never wear gloss without a liner or lipstick. It would look like I had fried chicken for lunch and forgot to wipe my mouth. No thank you.

Rather than try to cover up unhealthy skin I've been working on nurturing it. I stick to brands of moisturizer, primer and finishing power that were mentioned above. Absolutely love them. The skin care post coming up is way simpler than this!

What's your make-up routine like? What products do you use? How long does it take? Do you wear foundation?

After a week of being tucked away in bed, alternating between watching Law and Order and bingeing on Youtube videos, I spent yesterday in the city, planning to run some errands and do a little window shopping. Ha! This girl ended up doing absolutely nothing but chill in air-conditioned buildings all day. Summer is in full swing y'all! The sun is scorching and the air is hot and heavy. Cool island breezes are practically non existent! You win this round summer, I'll run those errands another day.

Feeling a bit guilty about hiding from the sun all day we stopped on the way home to wish it goodnight. Is there anything more beautiful than the dying sun? Speaking of dying suns, I came across the nicest quotes a few nights ago, already shared it on Instagram but it's too pretty not to be shared again.

"Tell me the story of how the sun loved the moon so much he died every night to let her breath"

How's your summer going? How do you beat the summer heat?

Hey Lovelies,

I finally took out those crochet braids over the weekend, after almost two months it feels unbelievable good to touch my own hair again. Seriously, I keep fondling my curls, so weird. A really big shocker was how much length the hair retained while under there! I'm not sure how long it is because I don't really measure the hair, the front reaches the tip of my nose!  I do know, that my coils can now be scraped up into a high puff and that my friends, is awesome!

It's been just about 10 months since the sides were last shaved and the top cut. I've been protective styling a lot this year and plan to continue doing that but I miss my hair so badly when it's put away! The protective styles I've done this year are box braids, yarn locs, afro-kinky braids and the crochet fro. The styles stay in for 4-7 weeks then I wear my hair loose for a week before tucking them away again. Also really excited about the fact that my poor edges are finally growing in. High five hair line, we got this!

Just started using Cantu's leaving-in conditioning cream, which my hair loves! Has anyone tried using black soap to cleanse their hair? I'm thinking about testing it out.  Also I'd love to know what you use to give your hair a moisturizing treatment. Sorry if the photo quality is a bit bad didn't have a camera with me so my nexus took these shots.

Hope you're all having a lovely week! What's been up with you lately? I have some catching up to do.

Ps. I'm excited to be  featured over on CherrieAmore . The entire concept of the Dark-skinned girls who rock series is so awesome! Check it if you'd like to learn a teenie bit about this island girl, also make sure to have a peak at the other girls in the series. Thanks so much Cherrie!

Have a great week guys.
